Turn The Tide On Ocean Pollution
Saturday, September 20th. Santa Barbara's East Beach, at the foot of Stearns Wharf. Smiling, happy faces, blue skies, hot sun, and warm salt water dominated. Throw in plenty of longboards, kayaks, paddleboards, outriggers, and the random dinghy, and you've got a paddleout. Sponsored by the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Thanks to all of the wonderful folks who organized and participated in this event.

A peek behind the scenes at Santa Barbara's Summer Solstice Celebration...
Since 1974, Santa Barbara has celebrated the summer solstice with a parade that honors artistic freedom and creativity. The guidelines are loose- interpret the theme (this year it's "Solar Flair"), and no motorized vehicles- all floats are strictly people powered. Beyond that, pretty much anything goes. A week before the parade, we visited the workshop to see how things were shaping up.
